Job description

Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Oil Spill Responder to join our team in Galveston, TX. This is a full-time, onsite position reporting directly to the Site Supervisor. As an Oil Spill Responder you will be a vital team member supporting our mission to keep coastal waters clean by mitigating oil spills.
Responsibilities:
    • Participate in deployment, retrieval, cleaning, and storage of oil boom and sorbent materials, and assist in oil spill clean-up activities. 
    • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and inspections on response equipment, including maintenance and safety reports.
    • Ability to learn and operate small boats including use of navigation and radar equipment.
    • Ability to adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Complete required administrative responsibilities properly and timely.
    • Work effectively as part of a team, providing support and assistance.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • A Valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Mechanical aptitude and desire to learn safe practices and operations is a plus.
  • Successful completion of background check, pre-employment drug screen and medical exam.  
    • Possess or obtain a Passport, and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). 
    • Ability to comply with MSRC’s mission, which may include returning to your work site within 2-hours for an emergency response.
    • Travel as required by business need.
    • Participate in MSRC’s Drug and Alcohol Program and Medical Surveillance Program.
Physical Requirements: 
  • Requires standing, lifting up to 45lbs, and ability to wear the required personnel protective equipment.
  • Able to work in various temperatures, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions, and environmental conditions.
