SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Supports the quality of care provided to patients by Department of Nursing staff through optimal orientation programs, ongoing evaluation of competence, and support of lifelong learning. The Nursing Professional Development Specialist promotes relevant professional development opportunities and mentorship for members of the department of nursing at all levels to assist with the achievement of personal and professional goals. This position serves as the Unit-Based Educator for AICU, CVICU, PCU, and CVU.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • MSN or intent to complete MSN within five (5) years of hire.

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required.

  • Three (3) years nursing experience.

  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact required.

  • AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Nursing Professional Development Certification or specialty certification

  • Critical Care experience preferred
