Who You Are:

This position as an Aerospace Engineering and Operations Technician supports the U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center. This person will provide technical management to the Medium Range Surveillance (MRS) HC-144 product line. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide Aeronautical Engineering technical management, Government POC is MRS Lead Engineer and Engineering Officer. 
    • Research HC-144 Engineering projects and provide final design and/or re-design solutions to include initial prototype and engineering data for substantiation reports. 
    • Ascertain the structural classification of aircraft STRUCTURALLY damaged areas IAW 1C-144A-3, 51-00-00. 
    • Create a structural damage map that reports for proposal to AIRBUS Defense & Space. At a minimum, the report shall include technical information from the 1C-144A-3. Determine structural classification is Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, or Fatigue Critical Basic Structure (FCBS). 
    • Complete airframe structural repair plans to include developing repair scheme or modification that maintain or exceed OEM structural design criteria. 
    • Prepare engineering technical memos to include correspondence documenting technical/engineering issues for OEM assistance and responses for technical assistance requests. 
  • Manage Propulsion Systems. 
    • Liaison directly with Collins Aero Field Service Representative (FSR), MRS Lead Engineer, Engineering Officer, designated government representative or product line COR for all fleet engine problems. 
    • Response and provide advice on maintenance status/release-ability for fleet technical requests to include determination of serviceability and/or disposition of fleet propulsion systems. 
  • Manage Power Plant Systems. 
    • Liaison directly with GE engine Field Service Representative (FSR), MRS Lead Engineer, Engineering Officer, designated government representative or product line COR for all fleet engine problems. Ensure Fleet Lead Engineer is briefed on technical problems as well as supply related constraints for spare engines. 
    • Review all spare, repaired, and overhauled engines for proper documentation, SCHR entries, and USCG MRL scheduled maintenance requirements. 
    • Attend monthly GE meetings and program review. 
    • Response and provide advice on status/release-ability to fleet technical requests to include determination of serviceability and/or disposition of fleet power plant systems. 
  • Provide Technical Management and Support for AIRBUS and OEM Service Bulletins and Transmissions. 
    • Review and provide recommendations to implement applicable Service bulletins via USCG TCTO to HC-144 Fleet and Depot facility. 
    • Review all spare, repaired, and overhauled propeller parts for proper technical documentation, SCHR entries, and USCG MRL scheduled maintenance requirements. 
    • Ensure TCTOs are developed accurately and monitor progression during publication process and fleet implementation.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ airframe and power plant maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in aircraft maintenance management of airframe and power plant.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated minimum experience of aircraft fleet management to include safety of flight release determination.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of aviation engineering concepts, principles, and methods. Problems encountered demand skill sufficient to modify standard practices, adapt precedents, and make significant departures from existing approaches and techniques. 
  • Demonstrated ten (10) years’ knowledge and experience of the CN-235 and HC-144 Airframe. May be substituted by fixed wing and turbo prop experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan and carry out assignments, interprets policy, coordinates work with others, resolves most of the conflicts that arise, and keeps the supervisor informed of far-reaching implications. Completed work is reviewed from an overall standpoint in terms of feasibility and effectiveness in meeting requirements.
  • Experience providing onsite technical support for approved prototype and installation of system modifications, assess and resolve reliability and maintainability problems and provide technical interface between vendors and operational/field activities.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.

Compensation 

Expected Salary: $85,000 - $95,000

The position will be 100% onsite at the U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center, Elizabeth City, NC.
