Description:
The MRI Physicist serves as the primary technical expert for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems across UF
Health Jacksonville, UF Health Durbin Park Hospital, and affiliated clinics and satellite locations. This role is responsible for
MRI protocol optimization, MRI safety oversight, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and ACR accreditation support
Responsibilities
Job Requirement:
Provide primary MRI physics support and technical oversight for MRI systems across UF Health Jacksonville, UF Health
Durbin Park Hospital, and affiliated clinics and satellite locations.
Participate in MRI protocol optimization and technical review activities as assigned.
Attend Medical Physics Division meetings, accreditation meetings, and departmental activities as required.
Participate in educational efforts within the UF College of Medicine Medical Physics Graduate Program and departmental educational initiatives as assigned.
Participate as lecturer, seminar presenter, mentor, or committee member within the Medical Physics Graduate Program.
Participate in additional activities of the UF Medical Physics Division and Department of Radiology as assigned by the
Division Chief or departmental leadership.
Collaborate with radiologists and technologists in the design, optimization, standardization, and implementation of MRI
protocols and technical improvements.
Generate, test, and implement new or modified MRI acquisition pulse sequences.
Optimize MRI protocols through a systematic scientific process to achieve optimal image quality, reduced scan times, reduced RF energy deposition, and MRI safety.
Perform annual MRI testing in accordance with ACR and DICOE standards utilizing approved UF Medical Physics
testing protocols.
Perform acceptance testing of new MRI systems and testing following major repairs, upgrades, gradient replacements, or
magnet ramp-up procedures.
Provide guidance and support regarding MRI safety standards and policies according to ACR and UF Health requirements.
Participate in case evaluations, quality investigations, and failure mode analysis related to MRI safety events.
Oversee MRI QA/QC activities, artifact evaluation, and image quality monitoring.
Qualifications
Qualification:
Experience Requirements:
Experience with MRI physics support, MRI protocol optimization, and MRI quality assurance.
Knowledge of MRI safety standards, ACR accreditation requirements, and regulatory
compliance.
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
Additional requirements
Three (3) or more years of MRI physics experience.
MRSO certification or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months.
Experience with multiple MRI vendors including GE, Siemens, Philips, and Canon.
Experience supporting multi-site MRI systems and accreditation activities.
