Job description

We're looking for an admitted attorney, for an extremely promising Post Conviction Relief Attorney position within a premier law firm with lots of room for growth. This is an opportunity for a dedicated Associate Attorney to gain valuable experience in both criminal and immigration law and further their career with an established firm in the California area. As the Post Conviction Relief Attorney, you will report to the Supervising Attorney. We're looking to add an attorney with previous litigation and/or appellate experience to join our team and handle post-conviction relief. The Post Conviction Relief Attorney will manage their caseload, as well as client interaction, and can collaborate with our wonderful Post Conviction Relief Team of Attorneys and legal assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Advise client on their legal rights in matters and draw up legal documents about their case
  • Responsible for post conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce, early termination of probation etc.
  • Experience with immigration law is highly desirable, but not required, as this position would have interactions with both criminal and immigration practices
  • Attend motion hearings on behalf of clients and advise clients following each hearing about best strategies
  • Handle open criminal cases including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas and sentencing on behalf of other criminal attorneys within the firm
  • Manage court appearances, drafting motions, interviewing clients and performing legal research
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents
  • Manage workload of cases
  • Provide legal analysis for clients to determine any possible case benefits

Qualifications

  • Criminal Defense Experience or Immigration Law Experience
  • Experience handling criminal cases at the state and local level
  • A team player who is open to helping, strategizing, and working with your fellow associates
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required
  • Interpersonal skills of the highest caliber

Pay Range: $80,000 to $100,000 annual salary

Pay ranges can be exceeded depending on experience on a case by case basis.
