Job description

Job Title: API Implementation Specialist
Location: Washington, D.C.; (Hybrid, after 90 days In-person)
Status: Full-time; Exempt
Reports to: Senior Manager of Embedded Solutions
Typical Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday

Monex is a leading global financial solutions provider, offering a complete set of tools to support business growth and strategic financial operations.

We specialize in FX risk management and international payments, helping corporate and institutional clients design tailored FX solutions to navigate currency volatility with confidence. Our team of FX specialists implement well-considered currency strategies, offering dedicated support to help clients manage their payment needs, whether for goods, services, or direct investments.

In 2025, Monex facilitated $198 billion in FX turnover and managed $16.1 billion in assets. With offices across North America (Canada, the US, and Mexico), Asia (Singapore), and Europe (the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands), we serve over 70,000 clients worldwide.

By combining global reach with deep local market expertise, Monex enhances businesses with a suite of financial solutions and FX market analysis to help optimize efficiency, mitigate currency risk, and protect margins in an increasingly complex financial landscape.

Monex is looking for an API Implementation Specialist to lead the technical onboarding and integration of new and existing clients onto Monex's Embedded Solutions and digital product suite, including mass payment solutions, API, and online/white-labeled platforms. This role owns the client implementation lifecycle end to end — from requirements gathering through integration, training, and go-live — and serves as the technical subject matter expert bridging Monex's product and internal teams with clients' business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Become knowledgeable of Monex's Embedded Solutions; product and service offerings.
  • Lead the implementation of new client engagements, including the setup and technical configuration of the client with Monex's digital product suite, including mass payment solutions, API, online and white labeled platforms.
  • Manage the end-to-end client lifecycle from requirement collection, through to integration, training and finally go-live.
  • Become a SME (subject matter expert) on product functionality, workflows, and technical integrations. Collaborate with Monex's internal functions to ensure technical solutions operate within Monex's workflow framework.
  • As an SME, support both sales and account management during overall client lifecycle.
  • Serve as the bridge between Monex's technical solutions and the clients' business needs. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their business processes and tailor implementations to their specific needs.
  • Experience with Postman, JSON, REST APIs, and webhooks, with the ability to perform basic API testing, troubleshooting, and debugging for both new and existing implementations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of current Monex systems including the back-office application and partner facing Monex Online tools.
  • Learn and document procedures, processes, and protocols for Monex systems and applications.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to identify, design, and experiment on product enhancements based on testing, customer data, and market research.
  • Identify product success metrics/business KPIs, analyze performance on a regular basis, and leverage data to identify key initiatives and features to improve program success, performance, and outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in technical implementation, client onboarding, integration, or a similar client-facing technical role, preferably in banking, financial services, fintech, or a similar B2B industry.
  • Hands-on experience with Postman, JSON, REST APIs, and webhooks; ability to perform basic API testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Strong understanding of software integration concepts and the client implementation lifecycle (requirements gathering, configuration, testing, training, go-live).
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data and KPIs to guide product and process improvement.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple concurrent client implementations.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Account Management, Product, and Technology teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Financial Services.
