Registered Nurse (RN)

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.

Our Registered Nurse (RN) position is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. The RN provides physical assessments of patients; implements treatment plans, evaluates response to treatment, provides complete documentation, administers medications as prescribed and provides health care education for patients and families. The RN is the shift supervisor of the Mental Health Techs and LVN staff and ensures that the environment is safe and therapeutic for all patients. The RN provides direct patient care and management of children, adolescent, and young adult patients as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. Assures safety, supervision, and crisis management for patient populations. Provides assessment and medical management of patients and assists in the management of a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

Education/Training: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. One year psychiatric / neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and / or young adults in a long-term hospital or residential setting preferred. Experience: Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current Texas Registered Nurse License Current driver license. Knowledge and Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills. Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information. Demonstrate effective organization. Develop and implement patient care services within discipline. Consistently exhibit mental ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process. Provide safe nursing care. Understand patient rights. Basic supervisory skills.
