Job Description

The Mold Setter installs, sets up, and removes molds on injection molding machines to support efficient production. This role safely operates overhead cranes and lifting equipment, connects all necessary utilities, verifies proper mold functionality, and performs minor maintenance and repairs on molds and related equipment. The Mold Setter also installs and configures robotic end-of-arm tooling and auxiliary equipment while ensuring safe, reliable, and consistent operation of molding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Install and remove molds from injection molding machines in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment to move and position molds and related tooling.
  • Connect and disconnect water lines, electrical cables, air hoses, and ejector systems according to setup documentation.
  • Test and verify mold functionality, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling systems, to ensure proper operation before production.
  • Install, set up, and adjust robotic end-of-arm tooling and auxiliary equipment to support molding operations.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on molds, tooling, and related equipment to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
  • Troubleshoot mold and machine issues, including plastic injection molding problems, to support continuous production.
  • Follow established changeover procedures to complete mold changeovers accurately and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret setup documentation, water diagrams, and process sheets to ensure correct installation and configuration.
  • Apply preventive maintenance practices on molds and equipment to extend tool life and improve reliability.
  • Collaborate with machine operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel to resolve issues and optimize production.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety procedures, including proper rigging and lifting practices.
