Module Designer information

Do instructional designers make a lot of money?

Instructional designers typically earn a median salary that varies by experience, education, and industry, with many earning between $50,000 and $80,000 annually. Senior or specialized roles, especially those with expertise in e-learning tools and curriculum development, can earn higher salaries. Compensation also depends on geographic location and the organization’s size and budget.

What is the difference between Module Designer vs Curriculum Developer?

AspectModule DesignerCurriculum Developer
CredentialsTypically requires instructional design or education certificationsOften requires education or instructional design certifications
Work EnvironmentDesigns individual modules for courses or training programsDevelops entire curricula or course structures
Industry UsageUsed in e-learning, corporate training, educationUsed in education, corporate training, e-learning
Search IntentCompare roles related to designing specific course partsCompare roles involved in overall course or program creation

While both roles involve designing educational content, a Module Designer focuses on creating individual course modules, whereas a Curriculum Developer develops comprehensive curricula or entire courses. The roles often overlap but differ in scope and focus, with Module Designers specializing in specific sections and Curriculum Developers overseeing the entire learning program.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A module designer can potentially earn $10,000 a month through freelance work or consulting, especially with specialized skills in software development, e-learning, or technical training. Success depends on experience, portfolio, and demand, as many design roles prioritize skills over formal education. Building a strong portfolio and gaining industry certifications can help achieve high income without a degree.

Is instructional design a good career in 2026?

Instructional design is a growing field with increasing demand for e-learning and corporate training, driven by technological advancements and remote work trends. Professionals in this role should have skills in curriculum development, learning management systems, and multimedia tools, making it a viable career choice in 2026.

How close is AI to replacing instructional designers?

AI tools are increasingly used to assist instructional designers by automating tasks like content generation and data analysis, but they do not fully replace the need for human expertise in designing effective learning experiences. Instructional designers bring creativity, contextual understanding, and learner engagement strategies that AI currently cannot replicate. The role remains essential for developing tailored, impactful training programs, often requiring skills in educational theory and technology integration.

Job description

Aeva's mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.
Role Overview:
As a Photonics Module Engineer you will be partnering with cross functional teams to deliver photonics based modules and FMCW lidar systems to the market. You will engage with the internal teams to model and analyze novel photonics solutions to deliver products to various lidar, depth sensing, and photonics markets. You will be a critical part of the development and demonstration of new photonics designs, advancing the capabilities of Aeva's product line.
What will you do:
  • Validate models by designing and conducting experiments for empirical data collection and analysis
  • Detailed simulations and modeling of link, power, and thermal budgets to deliver photonic systems to specification
  • Work closely with photonics designers, optics, mechanical engineers, and system engineers to create system POC and provide technical guidance for full system prototype designs
  • Manage core technical details of new photonics prototypes and systems to ensure key results from concept phase translate through to full system demonstration
  • Perform FA and debugging for early prototypes

What you have:
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in characterization of photonic systems, components, subassemblies, and/or modules
  • Excellent understanding of active and passive photonics components, electrical components, and thermal/mechanical interfaces
  • MS or PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or other photonics related field
  • Experience with lidar systems or optical transceivers, preferably chip scale implementations
  • Background in system level modeling for lidar or optical links.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with an ability to learn on the fly
  • Experience using python, MATLAB, JMP, R, or similar for modelling and data analysis

$164,333 - $222,365 a year
Salary pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, certifications, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.
