Description

The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for all research, design, development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. We are searching for an extraordinary Hardware Engineer to take ownership in the development of very high‑performance compact camera modules and to lead camera hardware projects in collaboration with product and technology teams.

Responsibilities
  • Design camera module structures and packaging in CAD
  • Design injection‑molded, sheet‑metal, PCB, and other component parts
  • Author detailed 2D manufacturing and inspection drawings
  • Perform rigorous tolerance analysis of module designs and component parts
  • Work with component part and camera manufacturing partners on design manufacturability and resolution of mechanical issues
  • Author clear documentation on mechanical inspection and test requirements
  • Direct FEA engineers on evaluation of camera designs
  • Ideal candidate will have 3+ years of relevant experience in the design of miniature component or opto‑mechanical module for high‑volume products
  • Possess a proven record of project ownership and working in a fast‑paced environment
  • Having experience with electro‑mechanical design for camera is a definite plus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Mechanical design using CAD 3D molding and drafting package
  • Experience with various materials (research, selection, testing, process ability)
  • Basic structural and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years relevant industry experience
  • Experience with NX
  • Tolerance analysis of high complexity and precision mechanical designs with excellent understanding of GD&T
  • Experience designing for plastic injection molding and metal stamping for mass productionAuthor documentation on mechanical inspection and fixture design

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $175,000 and $308,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses—including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
