Job Description

This position is responsible for coaching the College of Law mock trial teams. The mock trial team practices regularly and competes in local regional, and national competitions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Instructs students in trial advocacy techniques including, but not limited to, writing and performing opening statements, direct examinations, cross examinations, and closing arguments, and making and responding to objections.
* Teaches students the Federal Rules of Evidence and legal principles and procedures associated with both criminal and civil cases.
* Works with students to develop case themes, theories, and strategies.
* Attends and leads mock trial practices.
* Accompanies students to mock trial competitions and chaperones to ensure that all students adhere to all University policies and procedures throughout the duration of the trip.
Required Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Previous participation as a coach and/or competitor in mock trial at a law school
* Ability and willingness to learn University policies and procedures and implement and enforce those policies when chaperoning tournaments.
Preferred Qualifications
* Litigation experience preferred
