This role demands a subject matter expert (SME) who can hit the ground running with minimal spin-up time. In this dual-threat role, you will bridge the gap between high-level systems engineering and hands-on mobile application development. You will collaborate directly with program managers and technical teams to translate mission operational needs into concrete technical requirements, manage program risks, and lead cross-platform development initiatives. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in mobile hardware, operating systems (specifically Android and iOS), and integrating geospatial mission data into enterprise cloud environments. Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Systems Engineering & Strategy: Partner with cross-functional operational teams and customers to define functional requirements, concept of operations (CONOPS), and UI/UX designs. Track program milestones, risks, and dependencies.
โ€ข Mobile & Desktop Development: Hands-on development of robust mobile applications for Android and iOS, as well as desktop application releases for Windows and Linux environments.
โ€ข Cloud & Data Integration: Coordinate with enterprise cloud teams to integrate complex geospatial data into web applications, utilizing Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, and related cloud infrastructure).
โ€ข Technical Advisory: Serve as the technical SME in vendor and stakeholder meetings, providing strategic direction based on expert-level knowledge of mobile hardware, commercial software, FOSS, and GOTS security mechanisms.
โ€ข Lifecycle Management: Manage iterative software releases and development sprints, ensuring smooth code deployment and robust test planning. Required Experience & Skills:
โ€ข Mobile Development: Proven, hands-on experience building Android and iOS mobile applications using React, Javascript, and Node.js. Proficiency with Visual Studio Code, Android Studio, and Xcode is required.
โ€ข Geospatial Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) applications, services, and data integration.
โ€ข Cross-Platform Engineering: Demonstrated experience developing Windows and Linux application releases using the Electron framework.
โ€ข Agile & DevSecOps Tools: Strong background managing source code via GitHub/GitLab and tracking agile development sprints utilizing JIRA.
โ€ข Lifecycle & Operations Management: Proven experience defining test plans, managing iterative software releases, and leading small software development teams.
โ€ข Client-Facing Skills: Experience working directly with end-users to translate operational needs into technical requirements, as well as providing technical support and training to a diverse user base. Desired (Plus) Qualifications:
โ€ข Strong conceptual design skills for new software tools and workflow optimization.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience documenting complex technical processes and procedures.
โ€ข Broad system administration comfort across Windows, UNIX, and Linux platforms.
โ€ข Advanced degree (Master's or higher) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
