Reporting to: SVP, Chief Platform and Innovation Officer

About the role

At SharkNinja, we create intelligent, connected products that delight consumers and disrupt categories. Our mobile applications are how millions of consumers experience our robot vacuums, cooking appliances, beauty devices, and the growing portfolio of connected products redefining the home. We are looking for a seasoned engineering leader to own the vision, strategy, and execution of our mobile app platform. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who stays close to the technology, builds and develops strong engineering teams, and knows how to deliver consumer-scale mobile products in a fast-moving environment.

As Sr Director, Mobile Applications, you will lead the organization responsible for SharkClean, NinjaPro Connect, and our next generation app platform spanning the full portfolio of connected SharkNinja products. You will partner closely with Firmware, Cloud, Product, Design, and Business stakeholders to define and deliver a roadmap that serves millions of consumers every month while setting the technical and organizational direction for a global team across the US, UK, and China.

Key responsibilities:

  • Set the vision and long-term strategy for SharkNinja's mobile app platform, including the unified ecosystem spanning robot vacuums, cooking products, beauty devices, and future connected categories.
  • Lead, grow, and develop a global mobile engineering organization of SDEs and SDETs across multiple levels, geographies, and time zones including the US, UK, and China.
  • Shape the team's organizational structure, hiring plan, and career development frameworks to build and retain a high-performing engineering bench.
  • Define and continuously evolve the software development process, engineering standards, and quality practices to support round-the-clock global development.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Firmware, Cloud, Hardware, and Business stakeholders to build and align on holistic product and platform roadmaps.
  • Drive architectural decisions across native iOS and Android and cross-platform technologies including React Native, ensuring the platform scales to serve millions of monthly active users.
  • Own the delivery, reliability, performance, and consumer experience of SharkNinja's mobile applications end to end.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships including offshore development partners, ensuring quality and delivery accountability across the extended team.
  • Represent Mobile Applications at the executive level, communicating strategy, tradeoffs, risk, and progress to senior leadership.
  • Champion AI-driven processes to accelerate design, coding, and testing across the mobile org.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive background as an engineering leader with deep hands-on experience in mobile application development including native iOS and Android and cross-platform frameworks such as React Native.
  • Experience working within an AWS environment.
  • Proven track record building and operating consumer-scale mobile systems serving millions of users per month.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, hire, mentor, and develop SDEs and SDETs at all levels from early career through principal and management tracks.
  • Strong track record of partnering with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Design, Firmware, Cloud, Hardware, and Business to shape and execute multi-year roadmaps.
  • Experience managing vendor and offshore contractor relationships with accountability for quality and delivery outcomes.
  • Experience defining and evolving software development processes, engineering standards, and quality practices across a global org.
  • Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and business audiences.

Preferred

  • Experience managing global engineering teams across multiple time zones, ideally including the US, UK, and China.
  • Background in connected product, IoT, or smart home development.
  • Familiarity with device-to-app connectivity patterns including BLE and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience leading organizations through platform unification, re-platforming, or large-scale architectural transitions.
  • Exposure to AI-driven development workflows and their application to large mobile engineering organizations.
