Job description

The Mixing Operator is responsible for accurately weighing, batching, and mixing raw materials used in the production of SPC flooring. This role ensures that material formulations are prepared according to production specifications and quality standards to support continuous extrusion operations. The operator will safely operate high-speed mixers, material handling equipment, and batching systems while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all plant safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Safely handle powders and chemical additives.
  • Maintain proper dust control and housekeeping practices.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures when required.
  • Stage materials including stabilizers, processing aids, pigments, and other additives.
  • Verify material lot numbers and ensure correct materials are used for each batch.
  • Operate high-speed hot mixers and cooling mixers.
  • Monitor mixer temperature, mixing time, and batch consistency.
  • Ensure proper blending of materials to meet product specifications.
  • Operate and monitor high-speed mixers, cooling mixers, conveyors, bulk material handling systems, and batching systems.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of mixing equipment.
  • Ensure batches meet established formulation and process standards.
  • Inspect material consistency, color, and blending quality.
  • Report any material or equipment abnormalities immediately.
  • Maintain batch records and production logs.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Safely handle powders and chemical additives.
  • Maintain proper dust control and housekeeping practices.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures when required.
  • Assist with raw material inventory management.
  • Manually load materials as needed.
  • Ensure materials are stored properly to prevent contamination.
  • Maintain a clean and organized mixing area.
  • Clean mixers and surrounding equipment as required.
  • Dispose of waste materials according to company procedures.
  • Must learn to operate a crane.
  • Must get LTO certified
  • Be able to lift up to 50lbs continually throughout the shift.

Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing or material batching/mixing operations preferred.
  • Experience in SPC flooring, plastics, PVC compounding, or extrusion is highly desirable.

Required Skills
  • Ability to follow detailed material formulations and batch instructions
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Ability to operate industrial mixing equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Ability to work safely around powders and chemicals
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Forklift experience preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and handle raw material bags and buckets up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work in environments with dust and industrial noise
  • Ability to wear required PPE including respirators when necessary

Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to raw material powders, mechanical equipment, and elevated noise levels. Employees must follow all safety and housekeeping standards. Cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
