Job description
The Advanced Undersea Systems and Technology Group develops innovative technology for U.S. undersea and counter-undersea systems. Our focus areas include acoustic and non-acoustic sensing, advanced signal processing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, autonomous systems, and systems analysis. Our technology is hosted on manned and unmanned undersea, surface, and air vehicles as well as fixed sensors. Our technical staff members hold advanced degrees in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, ocean engineering, and computer science. The group engages in all phases of technology development from performance assessment to prototyping and testing for a variety of Department of Defense users, sponsors, and industry. In addition, our group provides our collaboration partners with undersea domain and technology expertise to inform and motivate concept development in areas such as energy systems, communications, and sensing. As part of MIT, our group collaborates closely with academic partners and publishes research in top-tier venues.
The Advanced Undersea Systems and Technology Group is seeking a scientist or engineer to contribute to the research and deployment of novel capabilities for RF systems. The ideal candidate will have interest in RF capability prototyping from initial systems analysis through advanced signal processing and a desire to learn more through collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
The group welcomes applicants with a background in one or more of the following technical disciplines: electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied mathematics, computer science or data science. Experience with systems analysis, RF prototyping, signal processing and/or estimation is a plus.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to improve the capabilities of undersea systems, sensors and platforms through hardware and algorithm development, data analysis from operational environments, and application of novel algorithms to emerging mission areas.
- Masters in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, physics, computer science or related technical field. In lieu of a Masters, applicants with an BS and 1 to 2 years of experience will also be considered.
- Ability to program in a scientific programming language (e.g. MATLAB or Python)
- Experience with signal processing for passive RF or acoustic systems
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Ability to communicate with and present to a variety of audiences
- Experience with design trades relevant to multi-channel RF systems
- Experience with RF system prototyping
Recent Graduate Hiring Range:$116,400 - $140,000
