Project Description:
DRT provides public health, technology, data, communications, and visualization support to enhance the government's ability to use public health data to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems. This includes designing and developing application and database solutions. In addition, this team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques to enhance safety research and recommendation efforts across the country.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mirth Connect Developer to design, implement, and support healthcare integration solutions using Mirth Connect. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining interfaces between EHRs, lab systems, billing platforms, and other healthcare applications to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable data exchange.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in HL7 messaging, healthcare interoperability standards, and interface engine development.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy interfaces using Mirth Connect.
  • Build and maintain HL7 v2.x, FHIR, and X12 interfaces.
  • Develop channel scripts using JavaScript within Mirth.
  • Configure communication protocols (MLLP, TCP/IP, SFTP, REST, SOAP, HTTPS).
  • Troubleshoot message errors, transformation issues, and connectivity failures.
  • Perform interface testing, validation, and performance tuning.
  • Monitor production interfaces and provide on-call support as needed.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and interface specifications.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and secure handling of PHI.
Work Authorization & Clearance Requirement:
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust clearance. Due to contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders) to be eligible.
Required Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience developing interfaces using Mirth Connect.
  • Strong knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging standards.
  • Experience with FHIR APIs and RESTful web services.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript for channel scripting and message transformations.
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working with the Centers for Disease Control environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processes.
Education & Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
Salary Range:
  • $70,000-$90,000
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
