Position Overview:

Location: Neurology 6C at our hospital in Springfield
Type: Full-Time, Rotational
Shift: Nights from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM

The Neurology unit typically manages patients with moderate to high acuity. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting frequent neurological assessments
  • Monitoring changes in mental status
  • Managing complex conditions such as strokes, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, and neuromuscular disorders
  • Assisting patients with mobility and fall prevention
  • Overseeing medication management and swallowing precautions
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive care

Job Responsibilities:

Utilize the nursing process to deliver patient care under the supervision of licensed professionals or a Registered Nurse (RN). You will:

  • Maintain accountability for the care provided to assigned patients
  • Coordinate patient care with various departments
  • Uphold patient rights and ensure confidentiality of patient information
Qualifications:
  • Education: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program; equivalent educational experience and successful licensure may be considered.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift; significant bending, stooping, and lifting of patients with assistance; ability to push, pull, or grip up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience: Open to both new and experienced LPNs.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or completion of the course within 30 days of hire. LPN-IV Certification must be completed prior or within 3 months of hire for LPNs in Missouri.
  • Licensure: Responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current LPN license in the state of employment, meeting all State Board of Nursing requirements.
