Job Summary

Responsible for the strategic management, optimization, and stewardship of the company's 275,000+ acre geographically diverse real estate portfolio, across power generation, mining, and development assets.
Lead land operations, portfolio strategy and long-term value creation initiatives while ensuring operational compliance and risk mitigation.
Develop and execute strategies to maximize portfolio value, mitigate risk, and support enterprise objectives through scalable processes, technology solutions, and organizational best practices.
Ensure operational excellence through effective management of land agreements, compliance obligations, and third-party/landowner relationships including governmental agencies, oil & gas companies, tenants and other third parties.
Provide support and development opportunities to direct reports.
Serve as a strategic advisor on land-related matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and portfolio optimization opportunities.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Develop and execute the company's real estate portfolio strategy, including optimization, monetization, and long-term stewardship initiatives
Lead land operations activities, including lease administration, contractual compliance, landowner relations, and operational issue resolution
Identify and evaluate opportunities for portfolio value creation, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, agricultural licensing, and mineral leasing
Develop and implement scalable processes, controls, and performance metrics to improve organizational effectiveness and reduce risk
Lead and develop a high-performing team while fostering collaboration across business functions
Represent Vistra in third party negotiations including landowners, leaseholders, governmental agencies, tenants, and other stakeholders

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements

10+ years relevant experience (land management, real estate, asset management, energy, infrastructure, mining, oil & gas, or related industries) with 3+ years leading direct report(s) required
Certified Professional Landman (CPL) designation and/or Texas Real Estate Sales or Brokers License is preferred
Significant experience in land operations, including lease administration, contractual obligations, landowner relations, and operational risk management
Knowledge of land, mineral, and oil and gas profession practices, procedures, documents, appraisal techniques and familiarity with governmental agency rules and regulations
Advanced Microsoft office capabilities (Teams, Sharepoint, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, negotiation, communication, and people management skills
Strong business, analytical, and financial acumen with the ability to translate complex information into actionable recommendations

Key Metrics

Portfolio value creation initiatives identified and executed
Lease compliance, payment accuracy, and renewal performance
Landowner satisfaction and resolution of operational issues
Collaborate and communicate with key stakeholders and other internal business functions, including but not limited to site management, Mining, Legal, Tax teams
Meet or exceed all annual business objectives (i.e., land sales, surface waiver, etc.)
Meet or beat required timing of acquisitions and other negotiation timelines (i.e., road closure & vacates, facilities relocations, etc.).
Meet or exceed annual revenue goals for sales, Oil & Gas revenue that typically exceed $5M and expenditure limits for Capital and O&M Expenditures that exceed $10M per year
Delivery of process improvement and technology enhancement initiatives
Employee engagement, team development, and succession readiness
