Do you like working on a fun and energetic team? Are you interested in how trading systems work and being close to the financial markets? The Margin Lending team is seeking an experienced operations manager to oversee our day-to-day operations at Goldman Sachs.
OUR IMPACT
Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all parts of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and control to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and its reputation. For every trade executed, every new product launched or market entered, every transaction completed, it is Operations that develops the processes and controls that makes business flow.
The PWM Margin Lending team's primary responsibility is margin risk monitoring supporting the Private Wealth Management (PWM) business by ensuring clients' accounts remain within exposure limits, and to the extent clients' have exceeded their available borrowing capacity, ensuring that actions are taken to bring the client's account back within their limit. The team focuses on a combination of day to day operational functions and value added projects and initiatives. One key function is validating and ensuring all margin calls are issued on a timely basis, working closely with Business Partners to ensure all calls are met in a timely manner. There are also regulatory reporting obligations that are performed by the team daily, across businesses. Separately, the team works on a variety of different projects that focus on enhancements to manual processes, system uplift to increase scale, and inquiry processing on the back of client requests.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
  • Partner with the entire management team to ensure that processes are established and maintained to achieve business objectives
  • Work closely with senior leadership to challenge the status quo and inspire innovative thinking
  • Manage operational procedures, perform complex analyses, develop action plans, and implement new systems and processes to improve the existing operations
  • Partner with Technology and Business stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve complex trading issues
  • Provide approval for margin calls, wires, and account transfer workflows
  • Provide subject matter expertise and testing support for ongoing system enhancements and regulatory initiatives
  • Maintain and foster business relationships with Private Wealth Management Sales Teams, Engineering and other Operations teams

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in operations management
  • Proven track record of effectively managing teams
  • Deep understanding of operations functions and processes
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Possess AI experience and demonstrates a transformation mindset
  • Examples of successful project management experience
  • Good attention to detail and passion for executing to the highest standards of the company

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understanding of the securities industry; experience with Margin Lending business, product flows and systems, including OTC derivatives and intercompany processes. (not required)
