Job Title: Machine Repair Project Manager

Job Description

This role oversees industrial machine repair and stamping press repair projects across the region from an office base in Grand Blanc, MI. It is well suited for an experienced maintenance professional, machine repair technician, millwright, lead foreman, maintenance supervisor, or project manager who wants to move into or deepen a leadership position with a well-established industrial contractor. The Machine Repair Project Manager manages multiple projects at once, coordinates field personnel, supports customers, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The organization offers training and mentorship in estimating and project bidding for candidates transitioning from a hands-on maintenance into project management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage machine repair and industrial maintenance projects from initial planning through completion.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams ranging from 10 to 30 employees, providing clear direction and support.
  • Schedule labor, equipment, and materials to ensure projects execute efficiently and safely.
  • Work closely with operations, estimating teams, customers, and field personnel to align expectations and project goals.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to monitor project progress, address issues, and support field teams.
  • Assist in developing project estimates and customer proposals, learning and applying estimating and bidding processes.
  • Maintain and track project budgets and schedules while providing regular communication and updates to customers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements on all projects.
  • Uphold quality standards for machine repair, stamping press work, and industrial maintenance activities.
  • Support continuous improvement in project execution, resource utilization, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Skills

  • At least 7 years of stamping press repair experience.
  • Hands-on experience with machine repair and industrial maintenance.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, stamping, automotive, or industrial environments.
  • Ability to lead and manage field teams ranging from 10 to 30 employees.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, estimating, customers, and field personnel.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills in a collaborative, project-driven environment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (MVR required).
  • Familiarity with industrial machinery, industrial maintenance practices, and industrial equipment.
  • Capability to balance multiple projects and priorities while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Project Manager or Maintenance Manager.
  • Experience in estimating or bidding industrial maintenance or machine repair projects.
  • Millwright experience with strong machine repair expertise.

  • Experience maintaining equipment within automotive stamping facilities.
  • Familiarity with large automotive and Tier 1 manufacturing environments, including major OEMs and suppliers.
  • Interest in transitioning from a hands-on maintenance role into a project management position.
  • Willingness to learn and grow under training and mentorship in project management, estimating, and bidding.

Work Environment

This is a permanent, office-based position located in Grand Blanc, MI, within a collaborative team environment that includes experienced operations and estimating professionals. The role involves managing projects for large industrial and manufacturing customers throughout Michigan and provides exposure to complex industrial machinery, stamping presses, and automotive-related equipment. Travel to project sites occurs approximately one to two times per month to support field teams and monitor project progress. A company vehicle and company credit card are provided to support travel and project-related activities. The organization is an established industrial contractor with a workforce of approximately 800 employees and offers long-term career growth opportunities within operations and project management.
