Job Description

This position will be in a regulated manufacturing building.

Special training may be required for the candidate that comes on-board. I.E.

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Travel: Travel to Kalamazoo, MI for 1-week of on-site training will be required at the beginning of assignment.
This contract technician will have a working knowledge of general computer support processes related to both hardware and software as well as a substantial amount of direct experience supporting applications used in analytical laboratory environments.

Ideally, this person will have 1-3 years of experience implementing and supporting new lab system and software installations.

This person will serve as both a local project coordinator and as a primary technical resource for executing an operating system migration from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

This assignment requires working closely with internal company scientists, IT colleagues, and external software/hardware vendors on a regular basis. Previous IT project management experience is a strongly preferred.

Ability to work effectively with little direct supervision and the ability to research and address unique hardware/software technical problems is required.
The individual should have a good understanding of Client based hardware, Microsoft-based operating systems, network concepts, PC repair techniques, data management principles, and remote application support models.The person should also have previous experience working within a regulated environment with defined procedures for problem management and change management. Good communication and documentation skills are essential.
Migrate/update laboratory computer systems from Windows 7 to Windows 10, installation of specialized software, verification of new PC, software, and instrumentation functionality.
Provide post-migration support by troubleshooting and resolving issues related data/system access, network communications, and software functionality.
Follow existing documented procedures to build, configure, and support new implementations.
Engage with software/hardware vendors to assist with installation and configuration of software so that it works correctly with existing instrumentation.
Provide issue tracking and project status/completion reports to management.
Must have ability to work while standing for extended periods of time as well as the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Education Level Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related area of study (or equivalent level of knowledge gained from a combination of education and field experience) with at least two years of applicable work experience in an IT service and support role.

MCSC and other certifications are a plus.
