Torch Technologies is seeking a motivated Mid-Level Linux System Administrator with a strong background in Linux and security. Must be able to work in a team environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills both oral and written; exhibit the ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, work environment servicing multiple organizations. Off Hours support may occasionally be required as mission dictates.
Some of the primary responsibilities will include:
  • Linux Infrastructure & Security Integration: Configure, harden, and maintain enterprise Linux systems (primarily Rocky and RHEL) in accordance with DoW guidelines, STIGs, and RMF security standards.
  • Ansible Automation & IaC: Write, test, and execute Ansible playbooks and roles to automate operating system patching, baseline provisioning, compliance drift remediation, and routine system maintenance across the lab footprint.
  • Containerization & Virtualization: Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized application services (Podman, Docker) and virtual environments (OpenShift Virtualization, KVM, VMware) to maintain high-fidelity digital representations of physical test environments.
  • Hardware & System Maintenance: Perform vulnerability scans, system auditing, and lifecycle maintenance. Handle the installation, configuration, and integration of specialized HWIL system hardware and peripheral interface assets.
  • System Optimization & Troubleshooting: Provide deep-dive technical support for Linux OS kernels, container runtimes, network interfaces, and bare-metal integrations to resolve complex infrastructure bottlenecks.

Job Requirements:
  • US Citizenship.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4-10 years related Linux administration experience within classified environments.
  • Experience and certifications related to virtualization technologies, such as VMWare.
  • Must meet, or willing to obtain within 90 days, industry requirements for DoW 8570/8140 IAT-II certification (e.g., Security+), as well as a Linux-focused technical certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+).
  • Experience with security best practices, including scanning, patching, and the application and maintenance of STIGs.
  • Ability to work within a diverse team to develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for installation, configuration, and security procedures.
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Must have an Active current Secret clearance, with the ability to upgrade to Top Secret.

Preferred Attributes:
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to apply, OPSEC principles and professional conduct required for working within secure environments.
  • Familiarity with Windows environments and Active Directory domain services.
  • Experience with building or managing container images and local YUM/DNF repositories in air-gapped environments.
  • Experience with log centralizing technologies, such as ELK Stack or Splunk.
