Torch Technologies is seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer (PXI Test Systems) to develop a modular Automated PXI-Based Test System. This individual will be responsible for selecting, integrating, and programming COTS modules, designing signal paths, and documenting the design of the test system. This individual will also be involved in understanding the electrical characteristics of Units Under Tests and developing test plans for the UUTs.

As a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer (PXI Test Systems) supporting the Automated Test System, duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop detailed electrical designs including, Schematic capture, PCB design and layout (as required), Custom interface and breakout boards, Signal conditioning circuits, Power distribution and protection circuitry, Design analog and digital circuits to support stimulus, measurement, and control of UUTs.

  • Perform electrical analysis including Signal integrity evaluation, Load and power analysis, Grounding and shielding strategies, Thermal considerations, Design cable assemblies and harnessing including connector selection, pin mapping, and interface documentation.

  • Develop and maintain complete electrical design packages including: Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Bill of Materials (BOM), Manufacturing drawings, Test System Hardware Integration.

  • Select and integrate COTS instrumentation including: PXI/PXIe modules, Switching systems, Programmable power supplies, Data acquisition hardware, Signal conditioning modules, Implement hardware designs aligned with system-level architecture and MOSA principles. Support development of Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) interfaces between hardware and software teams. Participate in ITA (Interface Test Adapter) and ATE interconnect design (e.g., Virginia Panel systems).Verification & Validation. Support hardware bring-up and prototype builds.

  • Conduct electrical validation and debug including: Continuity verification, Power validation, Functional stimulus/response verification, Fault isolation and root cause analysis, Assist in implementing self-test and built-in-test (BIT) capabilities within the test system.

  • Support formal verification and validation activities and documentation. Participate in design reviews and technical working groups. Coordinate with software, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure cohesive system integration. Support customer briefings and technical documentation development.

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance.

  • Experience developing automatic test systems (PXI-based systems strongly preferred) and test sequences.

  • Experience with UUT testing within defense environments

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with electrical design tools such as Altium Designer

  • Programming / Software Experience: C#, LabVIEW, NI TestStand

  • Experience integrating software and hardware in automated test environments.

  • Experience with PXI/PXIe architectures and high-performance switching systems.

  • Experience with ATE interconnect solutions.

  • Experience with AI with engineering activities (e.g. hardware and software).

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) familiarity
