Job Summary
The Event Specialist III within University Operations serves as a working lead position, providing day-to-day direction and coordination for event setup operations across campus. This role oversees more than 1,200 events each year and is responsible for assisting in setting up all events, meetings, and special gatherings for Columbus State University as the primary duty. The position ensures that work order details, including event setup diagrams and specialized equipment, meet both customer expectations and internal standards. This role requires flexibility, including regular work during nights and weekends, to support the full scope of university events and operations.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties & Responsbilities include: Leads and assists in the setup of all events, meetings, and special gatherings, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in execution.; Provides work direction and guidance to team members to ensure timely and high-quality event setup.; Conducts inventory and prepares items and equipment according to work order needs.; Ensures events are set to work order specifications.; Works with customers to understand specific needs related to event setup and execution.; Troubleshoots event-related issues; moves and sets up equipment as required.; Walks assigned campus areas to ensure furniture and fixtures are in good condition and reports needed repairs.; Assists in special projects, including setting up and moving furniture or equipment on and off campus.; Assists in emergency preparations, such as clearing snow, ice, felled trees and limbs, etc. from sidewalks, roadways, and driveways.; Operates delivery trucks or equipment to assist in loading and moving materials.; Works collaboratively with moving/setup teams and grounds teams.; Serves as a brand ambassador of University Operations and Columbus State University.; Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: High school diploma or GED; and one to three years of related experience and/or training.
Proposed Salary
The proposed annualized salary for this position is $35,493 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. or more and perform strenuous manual tasks.; Ability to operate warehouse and delivery equipment (hand trucks, dollies, etc.).; Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.; Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail.; Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred but not required.; Valid driver's license required.
