Job description

DIRECTOR OF EVENTS
GENERAL SUMMARY

The Director of Events is a key contributor to the team responsible for providing proactive support to Etherio Meetings and Events and producing world class meetings, events and incentives for our customers. Specifically, this person is responsible for leadership and management of client meetings which include budget management, team oversight, logistics/project management and ensuring continued compliance with federal, State and client compliance laws, regulations and policies. The Director will have a high level of experience in both tangible (i.e. planning and operations) and intangible (i.e. relationship building and people skills) areas of focus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Directly manage large-scale client meetings/events/conferences.
  • Oversee planning team including internal staff and potential contractors. Ensure team is hitting deadlines, staying on task and utilizing Etherioโ€™s SOPs.
  • Oversee, create and update event project plans, budgets amp; call decks. Responsible for sending call agendas, notes and action items after each client-facing call.
  • Manage event budgets. Work with planning team to ensure all related expenses are accurately captured and report updates to client on a monthly basis.
  • Work with other event partners/vendors (Venue/hotel, AV, GSC, DMC, etc.) to ensure alignment across all teams.
  • Create and manage meeting specs for the program and submit to hotel/venue. Review event orders prior to the program.
  • Work with Senior Director/Team Lead to staff program based on the agenda and needs. Oversee contractors or Trip Directors onsite.
  • Think creatively and bring innovative ideas and solutions to our clientโ€™s programs. Oversee attendee journey exercise and spearhead the ideation process and ensure execution.
  • Develop forward-thinking strategies to ensure delivery and execution of best-in-class client events.
  • Stay up to date with all pertinent client policies and procedures and actively share updates with the team.
  • Work with the Senior Director/Team Lead to address any client issues and assist in developing and updating department standard operating procedures.
  • Keep up to date of changes in the marketplace and industry the best practices to ensure the continued effectiveness of events managed and supported by Etherio.
  • Ability to manage, mentor and guide additional colleagues when requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent experience.
  • CMP or CMM designation preferred.
  • 8+ years of meeting management or hospitality management experience.
  • Proven experience managing large planning teams and complex programs.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets.
  • Executive presence and ability to work with client stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Strategic decision-making ability.
  • Strong project and team management skills.

WORKPLACE LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
This position is based in our Atlanta office. We operate as a Hybrid work environment, working as a combination of remote and in-office presence, as well as the possibility of being onsite at client and/or event locations.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel at least 30%
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
Requires flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client, event, or company needs.
