Job DescriptionSummary of Role

The Core Market EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Leader is responsible for driving EHS performance and culture across a portfolio of accounts within a core market. Acting as a single point of contact (SPOC) for project teams, Business Unit and Core Market leaders, and clients, this leader blends hands-on engagement with strategic influence, in close partnership with the Core Market Leaders, ensuring consistent EHS practices, proactive client engagement, and continuous improvement. This role understands the unique core market specific safety factors and nuances that impact our ability to deliver Best-in-Class DPR Safe projects. The Core Market EHS Leader models DPR's core values, mentoring teams, and builds trusted relationships to advance our vision of being 'Most Admired' in the industry.

Core Responsibilities

Leadership and Culture

  • Model and champion DPR's safety culture and core values: Integrity, Enjoyment, Uniqueness, Ever Forward.
  • Partner closely with the Core Market Leaders to co-develop and execute Core Market EHS strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and driving leadership excellence within the Core Market.
  • Mentor and coach Project Teams, EHS Team Members, and Core Market Leaders to foster growth and excellence.
  • Foster proactive leadership and collaboration with clients and internal teams.
  • Recognize and celebrate exemplary EHS practices.
Client Engagement and Communication
  • Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for key clients within the core market, representing DPR in EHS meetings and business reviews with a commitment to predictable, safe outcomes.
  • Build and nurture trusted partnerships with key clients, listening proactively and responding with solutions that protect both our teams and our clients.
  • Communicate EHS updates and incident information with clarity, urgency, and transparency-ensuring clients always feel informed and valued.
  • Go beyond compliance: position EHS as a true differentiator that earns trust, wins work, and transforms clients into raving fans of DPR. Engage with industry leading trade partners to learn, adapt, and apply lessons to core market projects.
  • Participate/present in relevant trade shows and publish articles, as appropriate.
Data, KPI and Program Management
  • Collaborate with key customers and project teams to define and analyze meaningful EHS KPIs.
  • Present data-driven insights and dashboards for transparency.
  • Support BU EHS Leads in pursuits, RFQs, RFPs, and interviews.
  • Review and clarify client contract requirements, cascading updates as needed.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate core market trends and solutions.
Field and Project Support
  • Onboard new project teams to key customer expectations, ensuring they understand both the history and current requirements for success.
  • Walk identified projects with teams and clients as needed, performing EHS audits to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
  • Proactively lean in to support project teams when incident trends, operational challenges, or client concerns arise, providing hands-on guidance, resources, and leadership to resolve issues and restore confidence.
  • Participate in cause analyses and prepare incident summary submissions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Gather lessons learned from field activities and proactively share best practices across the core market, projects, and BU EHS Leads to strengthen EHS performance.
  • Actively participate in client and project team meetings to provide EHS guidance and address emerging needs.
Strategic Influence and Continuous Improvement
  • Leverage data and analytics to identify trends, measure performance, and guide EHS core market strategy for improved risk reduction.
  • Anticipate market needs and opportunities by partnering with Core Market, Regional, and BU Leaders to align strategies and accelerate adoption of best practices.
  • Drive innovation in safety technologies, tools, practices, and campaigns to enhance operational efficiency and reduce incidents.
  • Support talent development and succession planning for EHS professionals, ensuring a strong leadership pipeline for the core market.
QualificationsRequired
  • Demonstrated expertise in DPR's High Risk Activities-including Ground Disturbance, Deconstruction & HAZMAT, Mechanical Lifting and Hoisting, Temporary Structures,
  • Elevated Work, Confined Space, Electrical, and Pressurized Systems-as well as other applicable construction practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of multiple trades across commercial construction and the specific hazards associated with these trades.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, EHS management systems, and related software/tools for data analytics and reporting.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Minimum 10 years of construction EHS experience, including project/regional program management.
Preferred (not required)
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CHST, CSP, CRIS, or ARM).
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or construction-related field with at least 12 years of experience in the EHS field, or a minimum of 15 years of experience in the EHS field or the construction industry.
  • Fluent in English (Spanish is a plus).
  • Understanding of advanced tech, data center and advanced manufacturing (semiconductor/microelectronics; aerospace/defense; batter/green energy) core markets.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Spend time in the field and office, collaborating on strategy and execution. Navigate uneven working spaces, access heights, and work both indoors and outdoors with proper PPE. Occasional travel to business unit offices and project sites as required. Sit, stand, bend, lift (minimum 25 lbs), reach, and twist as needed.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Mentor and support BU EHS Leads, project teams, and EHS professionals. Report to the Corporate Services Core Market EHS Lead and Core Market Leadership.
