MEMS R&D Senior Manager

Description -

Job Description

This position is an R&D Senior Manager (MG2) for the Micro-Electrical Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Lab in Corvallis, part of the Microfluidics and Technology Development (MTD) organization.

The R&D Senior Manager is responsible for leading a team of 35-40 engineers and management in technology development and production sustaining of MEMS platforms across inkjet printheads, microfluidics and sensor devices. This position will work closely with R&D Labs, Business Unit new product development teams and Fab operations teams in Corvallis, San Diego, Singapore and Penang, Malaysia.

Major Responsibilities

  • Aligned Business and Technology Plans: Work closely with MTD R&D Labs and Business Unit partners to develop and align technology development plans with partner's plans for business growth.

  • Program Delivery: Develop and commercialize technology that meets program deliverables on schedule per the Technology and Product Development Process requirements and market needs.

  • Leadership: Provide strong guidance for the section across geographies and grow the capabilities of the team. Be a role model for HP's culture and standards.

  • Organization Capability: Increase the capability of the organization and identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and faster time to market.

  • Business/Market Understanding: Understand market needs and provide guidance in developing cohesive strategies with our MTD R&D Labs and Business Unit partners to ensure alignment with our technology roadmaps.

  • Innovation: Drive technology innovation including support for off-cycle investigations.

  • New Product Introduction and Operations: Execute manufacturing strategies, new product introductions, stabilization and transfer. Effectively sustain processes and products in Corvallis production.

  • Strategic Suppliers: Establish and execute roadmaps externally with strategic suppliers and partners.

  • Section Management: Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs across multiple programs. Ensure that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines and budgets are met in accordance with program and organization commitments.

  • Organization Leverage: Ensure the linkage and leverage of the section's capabilities and roadmaps across MTD and other appropriate businesses.

  • Culture: Promote a winning culture that is based on a growth mindset - innovation, engagement, valuing inclusion and contribution to the business.

Education and Experience Required

  • Typically 10 or more years of related work experience, including 5 or more years of people management experience.

  • First level university degree or equivalent experience required

  • Experience with HP silicon technology, MEMS and microfluidics strongly preferred (as engineer or manager)

Desired Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced management skills, including coaching, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and leadership.

  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experienced in managing human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.

  • Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation).

  • Superior business acumen, technical knowledge of multiple business units, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.

  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting.

  • Strong understanding of HP's policies and processes.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working across geographies and cultures

  • Must be willing to work on site in Corvallis, 3 or more days per week

  • Must be willing to travel internationally, 2 or more trips per year

The pay range for this role is$147,050to$230,850USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
