The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.
Location: IUHMG M-Pathology Lab
Shift: Full Time Days
The Histology Team Lead in the coordination of work schedules, supervision of laboratory personnel, ensures the appropriate record keeping is performed, quality control is documented, workload records are maintained, and is a general technical resource for staff and physicians. Produces high quality microscopic slides of the tissues received in surgical pathology while maintaining patient confidentiality. Performs all necessary duties and procedures required for the processing of specimens for diagnostic and research purposes. Identifies tissue structure and cell components for use in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease. Assists in researching and developing new procedures and techniques for diagnostic purposes. Maintains laboratory records as needed.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Histology or a related field required.
  • 5 years of histology experience within the last ten-years required.
  • Certification through ASCP (or equivalent) required.
  • Requires ability to lead people a multifaceted histology laboratory; must have overall skills to provide technical and leadership support.
  • Requires proficiency at computer entry/retrieval of lab results.
  • Requires ability to utilize and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment in performing tests.
  • Requires ability to troubleshoot equipment.
