Job description

The Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.

Summary

The Microbiology Lab Technician will be responsible for collecting and preparing product samples for microbiological analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collects and prepares product samples for microbiological analysis.
  • Documents sample ID and microorganism growth results.
  • Promptly communicates findings that fall outside allowable limits.
  • Responsible for inventory of micro lab supplies.
  • Stores and maintains retention samples.
  • Reconciliation of daily micro log with the inventory system to ensure all production samples are plated.
  • Manage positive release of product in inventory system.
  • Samples purchased products (micro-testing and grading).
  • Other duties assigned by department management.
Typical Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Relevant Experience
1+ years related experience and/or training
Other Information
  • Basic math skills
  • Good knowledge of computer systems and calculator
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments
  • Good communication skills
