Job description

MENTAL HEALTH TECH (PRN)

Minden Medical Center is seeking a PRN Mental Health Technician (MHT) to support patients in a safe, respectful setting where compassionate care matters. This onsite, entry-level role helps the care team maintain a structured environment and respond to patient needs with professionalism and calm.
Key responsibilities include assisting patients with daily activities, observing and documenting behaviors, supporting therapeutic programming, communicating updates to the multidisciplinary team, and helping with de-escalation and crisis response when needed.
Required qualifications/skills:
- High School Diploma (required)
- C.N.A. certification (preferred)
- Experience with psychiatric and/or geriatric patients (preferred)
- Strong communication, empathy, sound judgment, and a safety-first mindset
If you're ready to contribute as a Mental Health Technician (MHT) on a varied PRN schedule, we encourage you to apply.

A Typical Shift

As a PRN Mental Health Technician (MHT), your day starts by getting report and orienting to the unit's priorities for the shift. You'll spend much of your time present on the floor-building rapport through steady, respectful interactions and helping keep the milieu calm and organized. Throughout the day you'll check in with teammates, share observations, and adjust to what the unit needs in the moment.
Because the schedule is varied, some shifts are fast-paced and others are more routine; either way, you'll stay flexible, communicate clearly, and keep patient dignity and safety at the center of your work.
