Metadata Library information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Metadata Librarian, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Metadata Librarian, you need expertise in cataloging standards (such as MARC, Dublin Core), metadata schema, and information organization, usually supported by a Master's in Library Science or a related field. Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS), metadata management tools, and knowledge of cataloging software like OCLC Connexion is typical. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help ensure accuracy and facilitate collaboration with library staff. These skills and qualities are crucial to maintaining accessible, well-organized digital and print collections that support user discovery and research.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in a metadata library role, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in a metadata library role often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistency and accuracy in metadata standards across diverse collections, keeping up with evolving cataloging guidelines, and integrating new technologies or platforms. Addressing these challenges typically involves ongoing training, collaboration with colleagues to develop clear metadata policies, and staying informed about industry best practices. Regular communication with IT teams and subject specialists is also key to ensuring that metadata effectively supports discoverability and access for library users.

What are metadata librarians and what do they do?

Metadata librarians are information professionals who manage and organize metadata, which is data that describes other data, for library collections. They create, edit, and maintain metadata records to ensure resources are discoverable, accessible, and properly described in library catalogs and digital repositories. Their work supports searchability, digital preservation, and resource sharing by applying standards and best practices for cataloging. Metadata librarians often collaborate with IT staff, archivists, and subject specialists to enhance user access to library materials.

Can you make 6 figures as a librarian?

While most librarians earn below six figures, some specialized roles such as library directors or those working in large institutions with advanced degrees and certifications can reach or exceed a six-figure salary. Achieving this level often requires extensive experience, additional qualifications, and leadership responsibilities.

What is the difference between Metadata Library vs Metadata Specialist?

Job description

Company Description

Farther is a rapidly growing RIA that combines expert advisors with cutting-edge technology - delivering a comprehensive, tailored wealth management experience.

Farther's founders are leaders and innovators from the private wealth industry who possess a unique blend of traditional wealth management, fintech, and technology production expertise. We're backed by top-tier venture capital firms, fintech investors, and industry leaders.

Joining Farther means joining a collaborative team of entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping their clients and our teammates achieve more. If you're the type who breaks through walls to get things done the right way, we want to build the future of wealth management with you.

The Role

This role runs Farther's advisor growth systems day-to-day: owns the content library lifecycle, authors and enforces the operating processes, drives projects across stakeholders, and keeps the machine moving and improving across hundreds of advisors. You'll be measured on operational excellence and marketing results at scale — contributing meaningfully to strategy and direction set by Advisor Marketing and cross-functional leadership.

This is for someone who is energized by content systems, process design, and project delivery — and who knows that in a fast-scaling firm, what gets shipped is determined by who runs the operating model.

Your Impact

  • Own the lifecycle (intake, editorial review, publication, retirement) of marketing content and component library. Keep the library fresh as ICPs, brand, and services evolve.
  • Author and operate the workflows that make advisor marketing happen at scale: compliance review, content production, HubSpot day-to-day operations for advisor marketing, advisor request intake, asset distribution.
  • Maintain the inventory of agents and their inputs; refresh prompts and components as the underlying strategy evolves; run regular spot checks for quality drift; operate the human-in-the-loop review layer on AI outputs before they reach advisors.
  • Author and maintain advisor-facing and team member enablement.
  • Drive cross-functional projects to completion across teams and departments.
  • Track and report analytics for advisor-led organic growth and surface insights.
  • Lead prospective advisor recruiting calls, articulating Farther's marketing growth capabilities

The Ideal Match

  • 5-8 years in B2B2C marketing, wealth management marketing, or content/systems roles directly serving professionals in a service industry.
  • Demonstrated track record in building and maintaining structured, reusable systems such as content libraries and resource hubs.
  • AI-native. Daily user of Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini for real work. Has shipped and maintained something built around an LLM (a Project, a Gem, a custom GPT, an internal tool, a structured prompt library). Can talk fluently about retrieval, system prompts, metadata, and where AI quality breaks down.
  • Strong project management discipline, working on parallel workstreams, and pushing things over the line without dropping handoffs.
  • Process designer to know how to build processes, identify broken workflows, and rebuild them.
  • Comfortable defining and measuring KPIs, establishing and using dashboards, surfacing insights, and using data to prioritize.
  • Collaborative operator who treats Compliance, Integrated Marketing, Recruiting, Advisor Experience, and Product as partners rather than gates.

Bonus Points

  • Collaborative operator who enjoys serving as the "last mile" for firm-level strategies, working closely with Integrated Marketing, Recruiting, Advisor Experience, and RIA Leadership to scale a coaching-centric advisor growth model

Why Join Us

  • Competitive comp package that rewards impact
  • Work alongside some of the brightest minds in fintech
  • Ground-floor opportunity at a fast-scaling startup
  • Chart your own growth path as we expand
  • Full health benefits + 401(k) matching & Roth IRA options
  • Unlimited PTO
