MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Draftsman to join our engineering team in Crane, IN. This is an onsite position.
In this role, you will help our engineering team translate complex concepts into precise technical drawings and models. As a vital member of the design process, you will support the development of Technical Data Packages (TDPs) for mechanical and mission systems, ensuring every design meets stringent military standards and is optimized for the full equipment lifecycle.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Create high-fidelity 3D models and detailed 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks while ensuring compliance with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards and managing version control
  • Support the development of comprehensive Technical Data Packages (TDPs), including assembly, sub-assembly, and detailed part drawings for military applications
  • Collaborate closely with Mechanical and Systems Engineers to refine designs based on analysis and testing results, ensuring CAD models include all necessary metadata
  • Interface with manufacturing teams to ensure all designs are optimized for production through DFM/DFA principles
  • Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the CAD environment and assist in the preparation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Proposals (ECPs)
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to specific Department of Defense (DoD) formatting and security marking requirements
  • Perform critical quality assurance through self-checks, peer reviews, and providing dimensional data for First Article Inspection (FAI) processes

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Drafting/Design, Mechanical Technology, or a related field; or equivalent vocational training and experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Draftsman or CAD Designer
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, large assembly management, and 2D drafting
  • Experience developing drawings for military applications and adhering to MIL-STD-31000 requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or Expert (CSWE) certification
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM (Product Data Management) for file versioning and workflow management
  • Experience drafting for electronic packaging, cable harnesses, or structural airframe modifications
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing (3D printing) design requirements

Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
