Job description

Shift: July 22nd - July 29th, 2026: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM. July 30th - July 31st, 2026: Clinicals (participants will need to complete 16 hours of hands-on practice throughout this time period)
The Phlebotomy Pathways Program is a paid training program designed for internal applicants and community members.  The Phlebotomy Trainee position is an entry level position that facilitates a team member's access to a phlebotomist career at UnityPoint Health-Meriter. UnityPoint Health-Meriter is partnering with the Center for Healthcare Education and Simulation to provide this training at 3001 W. Beltline Hwy, Madison WI 53713. You will be paid for the 56 hours to complete this program. Tuition for the program is 100% covered by Unity-Point Health-Meriter. Additional expenses, such as transportation to clinics for clinical requirements, are not covered as part of this program. Once you have successfully completed the program you will transition into your phlebotomist position on January 19th, 2026. Possible phlebotomist schedules could be 5:00 AM - 9:00 AM (depending on availability) or 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM (depending on availability).

Who is Eligible: 
Community members with an interest in healthcare are encouraged to apply. Applicants must: 
  • Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Has been a UnityPoint Health-Meriter employee for at least 6 months (Current team members) 
  • Has not been on a performance improvement plan within the last 6 months (current team members) 
  • Maintain all eligibility requirements to participate for the duration of the program. 
  • Sign an employee agreement committing to work for UPH-Meriter for at least 12 months as a phlebotomist. 
Is there a cost? 
The Phlebotomy Pathways Program funds, education, supplemental income, and clinical training. All instructional materials will be provided by UPH-Meriter Foundation and CHES. 
You will be provided the following: 
  • Textbooks 
  • Lab Materials 
  • Clinical work attire (e.g., scrubs) 
  • Compensation is $18.32/ hr.
