HCVT's Advisory team partners with business owners, private equity firms, and corporate management teams to navigate complex transactions and strategic decisions. We provide end-to-end support across the transaction lifecycle, including strategic alternatives analysis, financial modeling, valuation, deal structuring, and negotiation support for both buy-side and sell-side engagements. As an M&A Advisory Intern, you will gain hands-on exposure to middle-market buy-side and sell-side transactions across the full M&A lifecycle, from initial evaluation through deal execution and close. Interns work directly with experienced professionals on live client engagements, contributing to financial analyses, valuation work, and transaction deliverables that support real investment and strategic decisions.

As an M&A Advisory Intern, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Support Advisory engagement teams on mergers and acquisitions, valuation, and strategic finance projects for middle-market and growth-oriented clients.
  • Assist with buy-side and sell-side transaction engagements, including financial analysis, evaluating offers, analyzing deal structures, and supporting execution from letter of intent through close.
  • Build and analyze financial models and transaction analyses, including historical performance, projections, scenario analysis, and modeling related to revenue, EBITDA, and cash flow.
  • Perform company and industry research, analyze financial statements, and develop comparable company and precedent transaction analyses used in transaction and valuation engagements.
  • Assist in preparing client-ready deliverables such as financial analyses, valuation materials, presentations, and reports that support transaction decision-making.
  • Support strategic finance and FP&A initiatives including forecasting, budgeting, and operational or profitability analysis used by management teams.
  • Support business development initiatives including prospect research, market and industry analysis, and preparation of pitch materials for prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with professionals across Advisory, Tax, and other service lines while participating in firm training, mentorship, and internship programming and receiving ongoing coaching from an assigned buddy and performance manager.

To be successful, these are the skills, qualities and experience you will need:
  • Progress toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation date by July 2028
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0, with strong performance in quantitative and analytical coursework
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles and corporate finance fundamentals
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel proficiency: prior exposure to financial modeling is preferred
  • Experience with data analytics or programming tools (Power BI, SQL, Python, R, etc.) is a plus but not required
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to synthesize complex information
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
  • A willingness to receive feedback, learn quickly, and take ownership of assigned work
  • A positive, collaborative mindset with a strong work ethic

This salary range is specific to the state(s) listed and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set and education; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable salary estimate for this position is $38.00 per hour, and it is eligible for a one-time program completion bonus.
