Job description

WHO are we looking for?

CAPTRUST is seeking a Mergers & Acquisitions Associate who will work with senior leadership on M&A prospecting support, M&A pipeline management, and marketing coordination. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and exceptional communication abilities. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented and possess a sense of urgency while performing under tight deadlines. This position offers an immediate opportunity to drive efficiency, innovate processes, and provide strategic insights for a rapidly growing company. M&A is a key initiative to drive growth of the firm, and as such, has a high degree of interaction and visibility internally and externally.


  • Pipeline Management: Manage, update, and organize the M&A CRM with leads, ensuring data hygiene and cross-referencing information to maintain accuracy and efficiency. Maintain deal records and monitor deal progress
  • Strategic and Digital Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing department to create and manage sophisticated marketing collateral to support M&A initiatives. Leverage advanced digital marketing tools, internal resources and social media platforms to enhance lead generation and deal sourcing efforts
  • Prospect Engagement: Engage with prospects and investment bankers to set appointments and gather critical information. Conduct prospect research in preparation for management calls and meetings. Provide general sales support to the M&A team for the lifecycle of a transaction sales/closing process
  • Event Planning: Assist with HQ prospect visit planning, content delivery, and attendee preparation
  • Internal Coordination: Network within CAPTRUST departments, understand the assets available to the M&A team and how to efficiently utilize those resources to strengthen M&A efforts
  • Market Research and Competitive Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and keep the internal team informed of the competitive landscape and major acquirers
  • Legal Execution: Coordinate NDA execution and information gathering for new deals and prospects to quickly initiate the deal process

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years’ of experience
  • Basic understanding of financial analysis and valuation modeling as well as the financial advisory landscape
  • Basic understanding of the wealth management industry and M&A’s important role in it
  • 2+ years of experience in business development, marketing, or client service in the investment advisory industry.

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Dynamics, and PowerBI.
  • Experience in identifying and participating in new business opportunities that align with strategic growth goals and account plans, and managing these opportunities throughout the entire lifecycle
  • Experience developing, updating, and customizing pitchbooks and other marketing materials
  • Strong organizational skills with a sense of priority, urgency, and commitment to deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize with little supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with deep analytical skills and a desire to learn.
