Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partners with department, division and nursing unit leadership to plan, organize and direct the day to day routine operations of the Environmental Services Team ensuring prompt effective response to unplanned work requests.
  • Duties include but are not limited to assisting with preparation of department budget data, monitoring expenditures and preparing financial reports.
  • Participates in developing departmental goals and objectives/policies and procedures.
  • Meets with other staff members to discuss progress and to develop future courses of action.
  • Supervises staff and manages employee performance.
  • Provides on-going performance feedback, addresses problems, project staffing needs, interviews and hires employees, orients and trains employees, documents and verifies competency and identifies and suggests ways to develop skills.
  • Directs, schedules and monitors workflow.
  • Administers departmental policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines, reviews and communicates them to ensure compliance.
  • Inspects work of special projects teams and takes appropriate action to ensure that project work is completed as scheduled.
  • Takes action to address deficiencies.
  • Relieves Shift Lead as necessary and serves as supervisor and point-of-contact on evening and night shifts.
  • Completes required paperwork and maintains files including preparing the daily work schedule in advance and maintaining monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Monitors staff adherence to established safety standards.
  • Takes necessary precautions, in keeping with OSHA standards and other applicable federal and state regulations, when working with hazardous chemicals and materials and power equipment.
  • Uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Monitors the safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and wastes by staff; monitors compliance to policies and procedures for waste handling.
  • Participates in committee meetings and the hospitals infectious and hazardous waste, paper recycling programs and maintains the digital housekeeping system (e-bed or Teletrack etc.).
  • Works with director to formulate plan for professional development.
  • Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • The use of this job requires 75 or more employees in Environmental Services at the business unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Some college education preferred.
  • Six years related experience including one year demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • AHE or IEHA Certification Preferred.
  • Proficiency using a Desktop Computer and standard Office applications.
  • Effecient writing skills required
