HEAVY MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (MEO II)
Department of Public Works Highway & Sanitation Division
Salary: $28.86/hourly + generous benefits

The Town of Brooklines Department of Public Works is seeking reliable and skilled Heavy Motor Equipment Operators (MEO II) to join our Highway and Sanitation Division. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe and clean streets, supporting essential sanitation services, and responding to snow and ice emergencies throughout the year.

The MEO II operates a variety of heavy vehicles and equipment, including dump trucks, front-end loaders, street sweepers, and sanitation packers. Typical duties include:

  • Performing road, sidewalk, and pothole repairs
  • Transporting materials and personnel to job sites
  • Collecting trash, yard waste, and dumpsters
  • Conducting daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance
  • Operating plows, sanders, and other equipment during snow and ice operations
  • Assisting with emergency and storm response efforts as needed
  • Performs all related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education, training and experience.
  • 12 years of experience operating heavy trucks and equipment, preferably in construction, utility, roadway, or sanitation work
  • Experience with snow and ice operations preferred
  • Valid Massachusetts CDL (Class B) and MA Hoisting Engineers License required
