Job description

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists in all aspects of clinic operations within the scope of practice and promotes client/resident comfort and confidence by performing various personal care and support services. Observes clients/residents, reports and records observations, and documents services provided.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provides courteous, professional, and efficient customer service by responding to the needs of clients/residents, families, consulting providers, third party insurers, vendors, and others in person or on the telephone
  2. Provides personal care to clients/residents according to the care plan, including but not inclusive: bathing, back rubs, oral hygiene, hair washing, changing bed linens, laundry, assisting with feeding, assisting with ambulation, dressing, undressing, skin care and prevention of skin breakdown, toileting activities, maintaining a clean and safe living area, obtaining resident and patient weights, and accompanying the resident or client to doctor appointments using Salemtowne transportation.
  3. Documenting care delivered in the electronic health record for each resident and patient.
  4. Planning and preparing nutritious meals. (Home Care only)
  5. Protects residents' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information and following HIPAA procedures.
  6. Triages client/resident requests/needs by consulting with the Nurse Supervisor or Physician.
  7. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  8. Supports the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  9. Promotes exceptional customer service by participating in Salemtowne Shines and fulfilling the commitments and values of the program.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) degree from an accredited institution.
  • North Carolina CNA Certification with no substantiated reports on the state registry.
  • Certified in CPR by either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of standing and walking short distances for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects more than 50 pounds.
  • Stoop and bend at the knees, twisting from side to side at the waist.
  • Reach above, below, and at shoulder level.

Work Environment:

Works in a clean, well-lighted facility or residents' homes. Possible work hazards include bloodborne pathogens, moving parts, muscular pains, and strong offensive odors.
