Summary

The Marketing Manager is responsible for leading a team to help execute advertising campaigns and marketing initiatives that drive membership growth, deepen member engagement, and expand product penetration across Sierra Central Credit Union's full suite of financial solutions-including loans, deposits, digital services, and more. This role oversees integrated, multichannel marketing efforts such as marketing automation, targeted campaigns, paid search, digital advertising, social media, email, print, and broadcast. The manager also directs branch-level promotions and in-lobby communications, ensuring that digital and print displays effectively support business goals and strengthen member relationships. This position ensures projects stay on schedule, content is accurate, and compliance approvals are completed. Key functions include: project management, maintaining workflow efficiency, and meeting deadlines. The Marketing Manager is also responsible for analyzing market trends and membership data, producing accurate and timely reporting, and ensuring all departmental analytics meet regulatory standards. A successful candidate brings strong strategic thinking, creativity, and hands-on execution skills, along with a solid understanding of credit union or banking products and services. This role plays a vital part in positioning Sierra Central as a trusted, community-focused financial partner throughout its service area.


Essential Functions

  1. Develop and Execute Marketing Strategy - Create annual and quarterly marketing plans aligned with organizational goals, membership growth targets, and product priorities.
  2. Lead Multi Channel Campaigns - Plan, implement, and track campaigns across digital, social media, email, website, in branch, and traditional advertising channels.
  3. Brand Management - Maintain and strengthen the credit union's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all materials, communications, and member touchpoints.
  4. Department Management - Collaborate with others in the department to ensure deadlines are met, campaigns are on track, and overall help project manage the team to ensure completion is on track for success.ย 
  5. Content Development - Write and oversee the creation of marketing content, including social posts, website updates, newsletters, brochures, member communications, and press releases.
  6. Data & Market Analysis - Analyze market trends, competitor activity, campaign performance, and member demographics to inform strategy and optimize results.
  7. Website Support - Support digital efforts helping create/edit content, art and rates.
  8. Social Media Editing - Oversee, edit, and approve social media content.ย 
  9. Vendor & Agency Management - Collaborate with designers, printers, media partners, digital agencies, and other vendors to execute marketing initiatives.
  10. Budget Oversight - Manage advertising contracts and spend in accordance to budget.
  11. Regulatory Compliance - Ensure all marketing materials meet credit union, state, and federal regulations (including NCUA and advertising standards).
  12. Internal Communication Support - Help provide communication tools, campaign updates, and promotional materials to branch teams and staff.
  13. Reporting & Performance Metrics - Prepare reports summarizing campaign effectiveness, member response, and overall marketing performance.
  14. Branding and design - Create campaigns using the Adobe Suite using a combination of writing, designing and publishing.

  2. Strong Communication Skills - Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including copywriting, editing, and presenting to internal stakeholders. With the ability to type at least 70 WPM.
  3. Digital Marketing Expertise - Proficiency with digital channels, including social media management, email marketing, SEO concepts, marketing automation and website management.
  4. Data Analysis & Reporting - Ability to analyze and communicate market data, campaign metrics, and member insights to guide decision-making and measure results.
  5. Project Management - Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  9. Regulatory Awareness - Understanding of financial services marketing regulations, including NCUA advertising standards and compliance requirements.
  10. Technology Proficiency - Comfortable using marketing software tools such as CRM systems, marketing automation, email marketing, social media planners, art platforms and analytics platforms.
  11. Community-Focused Mindset - Ability to represent the credit union professionally at community events and outreach initiatives.
  12. Adaptability & Problem Solving - Skilled at adjusting to changing priorities and identifying effective solutions to marketing challenges.
  13. Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Google Business Suite - Skilled and experienced using the core productivity tools from both platforms. This includes the ability to create, edit, and manage documents, spreadsheets, presentations, emails, calendars, and shared files. It also includes the capability to collaborate effectively with others using cloud based tools, organize information efficiently, and perform day to day administrative or operational tasks using these systems with minimal guidance.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  2. 5+ years of professional marketing experience, strongly preferred in financial services, banking, or credit unions.ย 
  3. Demonstrated experience managing multi channel marketing campaigns including digital, social media, email, and traditional advertising.
  4. Experience working with CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and analytics tools, and digital ad management.
  5. Graphic design, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Express).
  6. Experienced in creating marketing content such as ad copy, ad campaigns, promotional materials, newsletters, social media posts, broadcast scripts.
  7. Experience analyzing marketing performance data and making data-driven recommendations.
  8. Knowledge of Northern California markets, familiarity with local demographics, community organizations, and regional marketing opportunities and vendors.
  9. Experience managing external agencies and vendors, coordinating with creative agencies, printers, digital partners, and media representatives.
  10. Management/supervisory experience preferred; however, strong project management experience may be considered in lieu of direct leadership experience.

  3. Ability to lift and transport materials, up to 25 pounds, such as marketing supplies, event equipment, or promotional items.
  4. Intermittent walking, standing, bending, and movement during events, meetings, and coordination of marketing activities.
  5. General office environment: primarily at a desk within a well lighted, air conditioned cubicle or office setting with moderate noise levels. The role operates in a fast paced, multi department environment requiring frequent coordination and communication across teams.

Compensation Range

The company anticipates offering ย an annual salary range between $90,000 to $105,000 for this position at the time of hire. This range includes base salary and does not include possible overtime for non-exempt employees or any applicable performance-based incentives or commissions.ย 


Annual Merit Increase

Employees are eligible for a discretionary yearly merit-based salary adjustment, based on individual performance and company results.
