ABOUT DOW CREDIT UNION

In 1937, the country was still in the throes of a severe economic depression that underscored the need for a workable financial plan to enable Dow employees to save for emergencies and obtain convenient, low-cost credit. Two Dow employees heard about the credit union movement, and the rest is history. Today, we serve more than 70,000 members and have over $2 billion in assets. Our goal has always been to serve our members to the best of our abilities and provide them with the best value for their money. Every day, we continually strive to improve our level of service by keeping our focus on our members.

In order to do this, we have to hire and retain loyal, team-oriented employees who have genuine care and concern for our members and conduct themselves with integrity and professionalism. That's why we offer competitive pay, excellent benefits, and a positive work culture. We truly respect each other and actively encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Dow Credit Union is an equal opportunity employer.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEMBER SOLUTIONS SPECIALIST

As a Member Solutions Specialist, you build relationships with our members while resolving delinquency and preventing losses. You use your customer service skills, communication skills, and empathy to negotiate solutions in the best interest of our members and our credit union. Often, you are able to assist them in setting up a repayment plan that works for them and leaves them breathing a sigh of relief. You also help members with mortgage solutions, such as foreclosure, short sales, modifications, deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure, and forbearance.

Most of our members with delinquent accounts want to pay their debts, but they're overwhelmed. Clients usually respond well when they realize you are trying to help them. For those rare situations that are exceptionally challenging, you remain calm and professional while using your conflict-resolution skills. You collaborate with credit counseling agencies and attend court hearings as a representative of our credit union in regard to small claims, subpoenas, bankruptcy, and fraud.

You review past-due accounts and make recommendations for escalated debt collection steps and loss mitigation. You also make recommendations on courtesy pay and loan eligibility. Leveraging your detective skills, you perform skip-tracing and research to locate members and collateral. Additionally, you monitor deposit accounts for fraudulent practices, such as kiting, counterfeiting, and empty envelope deposits. You feel good about helping our credit union stay solvent while helping our members get back on top of their finances!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MEMBER SOLUTIONS SPECIALIST

  • Ability to gather, analyze, and compile financial data

Are you flexible and patient with interruptions? Do you handle confidential information with discretion? If so, you might just be perfect for this Member Solutions Specialist position!
