Job description

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York City seeks a board-certified (ACVIM or ECVIM) or board-eligible cardiologist with a DVM or equivalent degree to practice cutting-edge medicine in our collegial, state-of-the-art facility. The successful candidate will contribute to our ACVIM cardiology residency training program and AMC's legacy of strong, postgraduate clinical teaching. We provide outstanding client experience and excellent relationships with the veterinary community.

The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all sections of the hospital. Clinical responsibilities may be flexible and include weekend duties (1-day) and occasional emergencies. Clinical and/or basic science research experience is desirable but not required.

Opportunities for collaborative research exist at AMC, as well as with Weill Cornell Medical College and NYU campuses in town. Cardiology at AMC The Cardiology Department includes experienced, licensed technicians (LVTs), two ACVIM cardiology diplomates, two cardiology residents, and a rotating intern. We have a GE Vivid 9 ultrasound system with 3 echo-pac stations for post-processing and report writing, a GE image vault server accessing all echocardiograms performed during the past 25 years, a mobile GE echo machine with TEE probe, electronic electrocardiograph, Lifepak defibrillators, Biotronik and Medtronic pacemaker interrogators, and Holter recorders.

Cardiology has use of our state-of-the-art interventional radiology catheterization laboratory on-site. In addition, our 24/7 ICU is equipped with an efficient telemetry system. The AMC has many resources.

Diagnostic imaging services are provided 7 days per week. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are available on-site. A commercial diagnostic laboratory housed within AMC provides 7-day per week service and an on-site clinical pathologist.
