Jackson HealthPros is seeking a travel MRI Technologist for a travel job in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Jackson HealthPros is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to join a hospital team in Portsmouth, VA. The MRI Technologist will perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging according to established protocols, prepare and position patients, select appropriate pulse sequences and scan parameters, administer MRI contrast and IV injections as indicated, and ensure image quality and patient safety. The role requires collaboration with radiologists, occasional independent operation of the modality, troubleshooting equipment issues in the absence of service personnel, and contributing to training of new staff and students.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification with MR advanced registry required or must obtain within one year of hire.
  • State licensure as required for MRI technologists.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to direct patient care.
  • Minimum 2 years of MRI experience in a hospital setting. This must include experience with high-acuity patients, pacemaker and anesthesia cases.
  • Experience operating GE MRI systems.
  • Experience performing IV contrast administration and MRI-specific safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently at times, demonstrate critical thinking, and provide exceptional patient-centered customer service.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from an ARRT-accredited program.
  • Previous experience with Medtronic pacemaker programmers or pacemaker management in MRI environments.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record and PACS systems.
  • Previous exposure to hospital MRI workflows compared to outpatient settings.
  • Previous travel assignment experience preferred but not required.


Assignment Details

  • 3x12 or 4x10 schedules with weekend and overnight call coverage required.
  • Call is overnight after the shift and extends until 7:00 AM the following morning.
  • TWO 24-hour Sunday call rotations per month required, including holiday call coverage.
  • May be required to float to other facilities as needed.
