Job description

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Business Development Manager - Medical Devices, based in the United States (Pittsburgh area preferred), to strengthen and grow Critical Software's presence in the market.
This role is ideal for someone with solid experience in business development within the medical devices ecosystem, who is ready to take ownership of strategic customer relationships and complex sales cycles. It is a relationshipdriven role, focused on longterm partnerships and complex, engineeringled engagements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and execute business development activities for the Medical Devices domain in the US, aligned with Critical Software's broader strategy
  • Build and maintain a strong, uptodate understanding of the medical devices ecosystem, including OEMs, scaleups, technology partners, and regulatory context
  • Identify, qualify, and progress opportunities where Critical's safetycritical and regulated software expertise creates real differentiation
  • Leverage on inbounds leads and proactively initiate outbound contact with relevant decisionmakers and prospective clients
  • Build trusted, longlasting relationships with key customer stakeholders, from engineering and quality leaders to business and executive decisionmakers
  • Lead consultative sales cycles endtoend, from early discovery and positioning through proposal development, negotiation, and closure
  • Work closely with engineering and delivery teams to shape credible, technically grounded value propositions
  • Contribute to strategic account planning and longterm account growth initiatives and provide regular updates and forecasts to senior management
  • The commitment to represent Critical Software in customer meetings, industry events, and relevant medical technology forums

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    • 5 to 10 years of experience in Business Development, ideally within Medical Devices, Digital Health, or other regulated technology environments
    • Proven experience selling engineering services or complex technology solutions, rather than offtheshelf products
    • Solid understanding of regulated medical software development at a business and customerdialogue level
    • Demonstrated expertise in prospecting, outbound sales, and lead generation
    • A relationshipdriven mindset, comfortable engaging with technical, quality, and senior customer stakeholders
    • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear customer value
    • Structured, resilient, and selfdriven, with a strong sense of ownership over opportunities and accounts
    • Powerful organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring tasks are prioritized effectively and follow-ups are completed in a timely manner
    • Willingness to travel within the US and internationally, as required
    • Comfortable using AI tools to support and scale business development activities

    HOW YOU CAN INSPIRE

    • You make hard calls quickly and with autonomy, taking decisions at your level rather than pushing every one upward, and you own what follows
    • You focus effort where it actually matters and step away from the opportunities that are not right for Critical, rather than chasing every deal
    • You see AI as the biggest shift of this generation and you act on it. You reshape how business development itself works with AI, you do not just adopt the tools, and you raise the bar for everyone around you
    • You communicate with clarity and honesty, without ambiguity
    • You bring urgency and positive energy in equal measure.

    HOW YOU CAN INSPIRE

    • You adapt fast and turn sharp, critical thinking into good decisions for the project
    • You are genuinely curious and challenge what needs to change and make bold calls
    • You see AI as the biggest shift of this generation and you want to be part of shaping it
    • When there is no map, you start drawing one rather than waiting for someone else to

    WHAT WE OFFER

We invest in the people who make it all possible. Here's what that looks like in practice.

    • Private health insurance
    • Employee Assistance Programme (mental health, legal, financial support)
    • Home office support
    • Extra holidays: 2 additional days after year one, more as time goes on
    • Extra parental leave: 2 additional months fully paid
    • Gradual return-to-work support: We'll help you ease back from long breaks
    • Sabbatical programme for long-term employees
    • Training, mentorship, and growth opportunities: we'll invest in where you want to go next
