Job description

This is a temporary, full-time Medical Assistant position in a mental health setting.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This is not an exhaustive list of all duties/responsibilities.  Other duties may be assigned)

Administrative/Clerical

  • Greet patients/visitors
  • Answer phones/schedule appointments
  • Fill out and submit insurance forms
  • Establish and maintain patient charts
  • File, update, keep Medical Records

Clinical

  • Prepare/maintain examination rooms
  • Prepare patients for examinations
  • Assist LMP during examinations
  • Schedule/report laboratory work
  • Maintain inventory and order medications
  • Coordinate with LMP to obtain appropriate prescription medication for patients
  • Possess knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, laboratory techniques, clinical procedures, and pharmaceutical principles
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • Ability to use medical equipment, computers, medical and office software
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality of Lifeways’ clients and records
  • Perform all work duties and activities in compliance with Lifeways, Oregon Administrative Rules, OSHA and HIPAA/FERPA regulations

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant course
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must pass a criminal background check
