Job Description: Laboratory Driver / Specimen Courier SHIFT TIMES WILL BE 10:00am-6:30pm

Position Summary

Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of laboratory specimens, supplies, reports, and related materials between client locations, physician offices, outreach accounts, hospitals, and the laboratory. The Laboratory Driver must maintain specimen integrity, follow all safety and confidentiality requirements, and provide excellent customer service to clients and patients. This position requires professionalism, reliability, and adherence to all laboratory, HIPAA, and transportation regulations.

Responsibilities

1. Pick up laboratory specimens from physician offices, clinics, hospitals, and outreach accounts according to established schedules.

2. Deliver specimens, laboratory supplies, reports, and other materials safely and efficiently.

3. Maintain proper specimen handling, storage, and transportation conditions to ensure specimen integrity.

4. Complete all required logs, manifests, chain-of-custody forms, and transportation documentation accurately.

5. Communicate professionally with laboratory staff, clients, and healthcare providers.

6. Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, laboratory safety, and infection control policies.

7. Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.

8. Assist with delivery of laboratory supplies and collection materials to client locations.

9. Report transportation delays, specimen issues, or customer concerns to laboratory management immediately.

10. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Position Qualifications

· High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

· Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record (Required)

· Previous courier, delivery, healthcare, or laboratory experience (Preferred)

· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and transport laboratory supplies and specimens

· Basic knowledge of specimen handling and transportation procedures (Preferred)

· Strong communication and customer service skills
