Job Title: Medical Imaging Scheduler
Location: Berkeley, CA - Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (ABMC 250; ABMC 250-2; SMT 250)
Schedule: Onsite | Day shift | 13 weeks
Requirements:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
  • 6+ months experience in a radiology or medical imaging department
  • 1+ years experience in medical scheduling, patient access, or call center environment
  • Experience with high-volume inbound/outbound calls and scheduling workflows
  • Experience with insurance verification, authorization, and patient registration
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and imaging procedures (X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, DEXA)
  • Ability to manage work queues, orders, and electronic health record systems
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-resolution skills
Preferred Requirements:
  • 2+ years experience in radiology scheduling or medical receptionist role
  • Experience with Genesys Cloud or similar call management systems
  • Experience with Epic, Workday, or similar healthcare systems
  • Ability to handle patient financial discussions including estimates and cost share
  • Experience requesting prior imaging and managing records/CD distribution
  • Experience supporting process improvement or high-volume access operations

Summary / Duties:
Supports a high-volume medical imaging department by managing inbound calls, scheduling patients, and coordinating imaging services across modalities including X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and bone densitometry. Responsible for work queue and incoming order management, patient registration, insurance verification, and authorization processing. Conducts outbound calls to reduce scheduling backlog and improve patient access. Provides instructions to patients, gathers required documentation, and coordinates prior imaging retrieval. Handles patient inquiries, resolves issues, and escalates as needed. Maintains accurate records and supports clerical operations while collaborating with technologists, physicians, and leadership to improve workflow efficiency and reduce call abandonment rates.
