Overview
The Associate Director, Copywriting is part of the performance content COE and is responsible for supporting agencies on their copywriting needs for performance content engagements. Reporting to the Director of Performance Content, the Copywriting Associate Director creates deliverables, provides ongoing recommendations for Publicis agency's client accounts, and outlines successes. The Associate Director uses his or her expertise in data and analytics to work directly with clients, and/or the Activation Teams to identify opportunities and craft strategies that will improve KPIs.
Able to organize team members, projects and long-term client goals, the Associate Director guides the development of the performance content COE. The Copywriting Associate Director collaborates with Publicis agency teams and leads or contributes to internal initiatives. A Copy Associate Director should have experience in SEO/SEM/Content marketing best practices to engage with clients and lead training sessions for the performance content teams within the agencies or company at large. Ideal candidates will have a passion for copywriting within the new AI Search landscape, embracing change with a positive and innovative mindset.
Responsibilities
Practice Development
  • Identifies opportunities to build copywriting solutions into Publicis Media client engagements
  • Successfully creates best practices and playbooks for the agency performance content teams, particularly in editorial and long-form content goaled on performance outcomes.
  • Builds strong relationships with and presents solutions to client leadership and performance marketing leadership in Publicis agencies
  • Creates deliverables and solutions using expertise in content SEO and use of supporting analytical tools
  • Assumes accountability of the development and success of copywriting capabilities within Publicis Media performance content teams
  • Leverages both quantitative and qualitative sources to create content marketing strategies
  • Proven experience and success in using data to identify issues and create clear action plans to improve content performance
  • Works with agency's account managers/clients to understand specific needs and help achieve goals
  • Creates learning and development content for upskilling our talent in performance copywriting

Client Delivery:
  • Communicates with client stakeholders in status, reporting and deliverable calls
  • Leads content creation, with heavy emphasis on editorial and long-form content, for deliverable execution
  • Manages supporting content creation internal resources
  • Communicates client roadblocks and challenges effectively to leadership to resolve and mitigate risk on future projects.
  • Self-manages workload to deliver to clients in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead new client on-boarding

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, concentration in appropriate discipline, such as journalism, English, creative writing, or other writing-heavy subjects
  • 5-7 years' experience with producing SEO & SEM content, with 3-4 years of editorial/long-form content production experience
  • Managerial experience
  • Strong analytical and implementation skills
  • Strong online research skills including advanced use of search engines and emerging AI Search platforms/experiences
  • High competency level in MS Office products including Excel and Word
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of staff including upper management
  • Able to provide portfolio or sample copywriting work with long-form editorial content examples, ideally for content that is still live on a brand's website
