What is a media liaison?

Media Liaisons are professionals who act as the main point of contact between an organization and the media. Their primary role is to manage and facilitate communication, ensuring that information about the organization is accurately conveyed to journalists and news outlets. They often prepare press releases, organize press conferences, and respond to media inquiries. Media Liaisons help shape the public image of their organization by controlling the flow of information and building positive relationships with the press.

How does a media liaison typically collaborate with internal teams and external media outlets?

A Media Liaison serves as the primary point of contact between an organization and various media outlets, ensuring clear and accurate communication. They regularly coordinate with internal departments such as marketing, public relations, and executive leadership to gather information and prepare press releases or statements. Externally, they build relationships with journalists, respond to media inquiries, and arrange interviews or press conferences. This role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills to manage multiple requests and maintain consistent messaging across all platforms.
