Description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes within the production floor for departments such as Final Assembly, Stator and Shell Press, Paint and Packing, Punch Press, Die Cast, Machining and other production departments. This position focuses on optimizing manufacturing methods, improving productivity, enhancing product quality, reducing manufacturing costs, and supporting safe production operations. Working closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Product Engineering, and Supply Chain, the Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements practical engineering solutions that improve manufacturing performance while supporting new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate enjoys working on the manufacturing floor, solving technical problems, and driving measurable improvements through engineering and data-driven decision-making.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve manufacturing processes for production department operations.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes to improve productivity, safety, ergonomics, quality and equipment utilization.
  • Design and improve production tooling, fixtures, workstations and material flow to support efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), process specifications and manufacturing standards.
  • Support new product introductions by developing manufacturing processes, tooling, work instructions and production readiness activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis of manufacturing issues and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process stability.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Evaluate manufacturing methods and recommend equipment, tooling and process improvements that reduce cost and improve operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate manufacturing engineering activities with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Safety, Purchasing and Product Engineering.
  • Assist in developing capital equipment justifications, process improvements, equipment layouts and manufacturing capacity studies.
  • Support implementation of manufacturing equipment, process validation, operator training and production startup activities.
  • Maintain manufacturing master data, routings, labor standards and process documentation within SAP and other manufacturing systems as required.
  • Monitor manufacturing KPIs and identify opportunities to improve throughput, quality, labor efficiency and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with company safety standards, OSHA requirements and engineering best practices.
  • Stay current with new manufacturing technologies, equipment and continuous improvement methodologies.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 

2+ years of manufacturing engineering or process engineering experience within a manufacturing environment. 

Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations. 

Experience developing manufacturing processes, work instructions, and process documentation. 

Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Draftsight or similar). 

Understanding of manufacturing process optimization, tooling, fixtures, and production layouts. 

Experience performing structured problem solving and root cause analysis. 

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 

Ability to manage multiple engineering assignments simultaneously. 

Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while providing hands-on engineering support.
