Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this role will be responsible for leadership of the mechanical engineering team, including technical direction, project execution, and performance evaluation. This role will own and deliver project work for self and direct reports, including new product developments, design improvements, and cost reductions as well as develop innovative designs to meet all requirements for safety, performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
Responsibilities:
  • Leadership of mechanical engineering team including technical direction, project execution, and performance evaluation
  • Ownership and delivery of project work for self and direct reports including new product developments, design improvements, and cost reductions
  • Develop innovative designs to meet all requirements for safety, performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost
  • Lead regular report-outs to Senior Management Team
  • Effective documentation of designs, test plans, results, etc. in various forms (engineering reports, test instructions, engineering change documents)

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 15+ years proven record in a product development and/or manufacturing environment
  • Leadership experience managing people in a technical field
  • Deep domain expertise in one or more core areas: mechanical design, rapid prototyping, sheet metal, injection molding, weldments, fiberglass, fabrication processes, heaters, motors, pumps, filtration, air handling, etc.
  • Strong project management experience across large and small scope projects with demonstrated proficiency in managing technical risks, cost, timelines, and deliverables
  • Proven organizational and time management skills; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities

Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or advanced technical degree(s)
  • Domain expertise in several of the core areas above
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D design skills and design translation
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency in working with suppliers and outside contract resources to deliver project objectives
  • Autodesk Inventor, Vault skills
  • Expertise in data analysis, statistics, six sigma methodology
  • Structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA), troubleshooting and problem solving
